Style File – 3 June 2012 (Birthday Morning Tea)

I went to the Hyatt hotel in Canberra for one of my besties’ birthday morning tea. It was a nice venue & nice to chat with my girlfriends.

Food wise, there were not many choices for warm & savory food but a lot of sweet food in the counter.

For $28 pp, we can have all you can eat food & drinks. The waiter was nice & helpful. So, all in all it’s a good value for money.

Actually my girlfriend’s birthday is not until next week, but because there will be another girlfriend’s 40th birthday next weekend, she decided to have it today. I think it’s very considerate & unselfish of her to do that.

I was wearing a dress that I tailored in Bali. The material is a lace that I bought in Italy. The bag is from Kate & Spade. Shoes are from Nine West.

Besides that highlight, the rest of the day was busy doing preparation for the week ahead. While cleaning, I was thinking to do something with my balcony and got these ideas from the Internet. Someday…

Style File – 18 April 2012 (Before iPhone)

Normally on Wednesdays night after work, the Husband & I, go dancing or I go for my Yoga class.

Tonight, He took me to Ruby’s restaurant in Dickson to make me feel better despite the cramps & hormonal thingy.

We had a lovely chat about things and after a while, we both reach for our iPhones & start reading emails, tweets & news. I think we stopped from time to time to talk about amusing things that we read.

When we got to the car, I started to think about what relationships were like in my parents’ generation when iPhone & other smart phone devices were not around.

In my case technology changes the nature of relationship & as long as we’re both happy then no problem. Somehow I reckon the “talk to me all the time during dinner” idea may be a hard thing to pull off in the current technology era. Maybe one day it’ll all change in to “talk to me in 120 characters or less” or “talk to me & I can only concentrate for 15 min maximum” (like YouTube).

Today I was wearing:

In the morning I went to Gunggahlin to take out the seam of my jeans, I took it to the cheapest alteration I know in Canberra. It cost $10 for shorten the hem.

The opening hours are:

During the day, I was wearing jeans and put on the suggested shape wear that I bought yesterday. It was not good!

The reason being was the shape wear kept rolling down so it created more bulge in my tummy and it was so uncomfortable!

I had to keep going to the toilet to fix the shape wear and pull it up.

So, as suggested by the stylist yesterday, if the shape wear rolled down, I can put some sort of fastener on it & I can get this from Lincraft . I went there & no one knew about this.

I then went back to BrasNThing to asked what can they do about this and they said nothing really because it worked with some people & it doesn’t with another people.

Honestly I feel a bit disappointed. Because if I paid for a professional to help me, then I expected things to work.

I also mentioned that I have been wearing the bra today & it is slipping off my shoulders as well. So she suggested that I get a hook called hide & sleek. Hmm if I knew yesterday, I won’t have to spend hundreds of dollars to something that don’t really work.

The hook looked something like this after I attached to the bra string:

Then in the evening I was wearing this to a girlfriend’s son’s 21st birthday party at the Crown Plaza hotel then me & some girlfriends went to Galaxy night club to dance to some 80s musics.

Style File – 1 April 2012 (Cleaners)

The highlights for today are:
First – We had cleaners come to our place for first time. We got this living social deal for cleaning service and got a three hours cleaning out of it. Apparently if we bought 3 hours & 2 cleaners turn up it means, they will work for 1.5 hours.

The Husband & I always share our housework on Sundays. But we decided to have this because we couldn’t get the soap scum off the bathrooms’ showers screens and the black spots off the bath as well as bot being able to clean the bathroom shower tiles properly.

It was amazing to have professionals who know what they are doing come over. We were happy with the results and will have them come over monthly.

Second – The husband’s aunt & uncle came from Sydney for the Renaissance exhibition at the National Gallery. We went to see them at The Husband’s
dad’s place. It’s always lovely to chat with them and catch up.

Third – I had a lovely Sunday afternoon nap today. It was such bliss to be able to sleep like that. Sometime I do forget how nice sleep is until in a very rare occasion insomnia kicks in.

All in all, just a nice Sunday where we had 5.3 km walk, nice breakfast in Dobbinsons and coffee at the Mocan and Green Grout plus preparation for the work week ahead. Of course the highlights make this Sunday extra special.

Today I was wearing a dress that I bought at ICE shop for $10. This is one of my favorite dress in Summer time but sometimes I layer it during winter as well.

Style File – 14 Feb 2012 (Fingers Crossed)

The nurse from my doctor’s office called and said my progesterone level is 128. I don’t really know what it means but she said it is a good sign that if things go as planned, we might be pregnant next week.

Otherwise then we have to start another cycle of treatment again.

I think at this stage, I’ll just do whatever the doctor’s office told me to do. Somehow I found talking about the treatment bores me coz it’s not very interesting & full of pain.

This morning, I feel that I moved much slower than normal (which was still the slowest of the group) during bootcamp. My breasts are all sore even when they touched my sport bra. I can talk & complain about everything that I feel forever…

The most difficult thing is to see the positive thing out of this not so easy ordeal.

Now I’m wondering how come my grandma can have 13 children and not complain at all.

Style File – 28 Feb 2012 (Miss the Chat)

My girl friend left to Sydney today. I miss her already. It was a great few days catch up. We certainly stayed up late.

On Friday night we stayed up until 5 am, on Saturday night until 3 am, only until midnight on Sunday night and until 1 am on Monday night.

I feel really flattered and glad that she came all the way from Singapore just to visit me in Canberra. It feels so good to catch up with each other’s life.

We haven’t met in person for around 6 years. Well we do e-mail, chat on GTalk and sometime talk on Skype, but it’s not the same as a real face to face catch up.

What is it about friendship that even though we haven’t meet for a long time, once we meet again it’s as if time stopped a while and it’s all like the old days once more.

Today I was wearing:

– dress from review
– belt from Cole Haan
– tights from Alannah Hill
– earrings from Mimco
– necklace from Six in Row
– shoes from Nine West

Style File – 22 Feb 2012 (Blah!)

Sorry to vent but I feel so blah today. I have stopped Primolut yesterday & tomorrow will start with the Gonal-f (same with Pregnyl) hormonal injection.

Hence that’s where the blah! feelings comes from.

I was actually okay for half of the day at work then for the other half I just felt so slow when the hormones kicked in.

Luckily the Husband has been really patient & sweet :). Well… let’s see how this cycle of hormonal treatment will turn out.

Style File – 1 Feb 2012 (We Love Voluptuous)

I was driving when I saw two ladies passing by. One of them wore a long skirt with the 80s style top that showed her abs & waist. It was really small and I told the Husband that I bet if I ask her, she’ll still be saying that at least one part of her is too fat. The Husband said, “really? why?”.

His question got me thinking why is it us, females are generally too hard on our selves? Why we can’t believe that some men do love a voluptuous female body instead of a skinny model look.

I used to have a flatmate who was a size 6 and sometime I think she can fit a size 0. But she still think that she is fat!! C’mon, if she is fat, what about me & some other females?

Well.. the point is maybe we have to start a movement to stop thinking that we are fat. Maybe we should just embrace our body shape & dress up accordingly. We’re fine as long as we don’t forget to keep exercising & eat a balanced diet.

Today, this I wore this dress from Just Taylor from Washington DC. When I bought this dress, I felt it was a bit loose & now, I can see it is tighter especially in the abdomen area. So, this is just a note that this shape of dress doesn’t really flatter my current shape & I should move on and get another dress 🙂 — another excuse to go shopping!

Style File – 6 Jan 2012

A girlfriend asked me whether I choose my friends. I said certainly I do because I even choose a mango that I’m going to eat to make sure that it is a nice one.

This also applies to a lot of things, including the place to live, the partner in life, place of work and almost everything in life.

Since I’m on and off the pregnancy treatment, my body has been up & down as well. At first I’m not sure whether white is a good choice for me who has gained about 7kg (yes blame it to the treatment!) but I gave it a go anyway.

So my chosen outfit today is a white dress from Asos.
